Submorphics (Greg Axelrad) has made his name with soul-drenched, deep, emotive, nostalgic yet forward-thinking music.
Tracks such as “Summer Soul”, “Organ Grinder (Calibre Remix)”, “Higher Ground ft. T.R.A.C”, “Burning Love”, “Long Been Gone”, “The Divine ft. Jenna G” and “Lost in the Lights ft. Christina Tamayo” have seen extensive play on BBC Radio 1, Apple Beats1 Radio and clubs worldwide.
Drawing on eclectic influences from his formative years in Detroit and Chicago, Submorphics’ sounds have been heavily supported by a who’s-who’s list of A-list DJs, yielding praise from both sides of the Atlantic.
Now based in San Francisco, Submorphics continues to relentlessly complete new music, always stepping up his game, while touring the US and Europe as much as possible. As a DJ, Submorphics sonically alloys disparate styles; the grimy and the smooth, the hypnotic and the astonishing.
2014 saw the release of the acclaimed “Burnside Park” EP on Liquid V, followed by Submorphics’ first single on Friction’s inimitable SGN:LTD imprint. In 2015, the pace was picked up once again with appearances on the ‘Hospitality 2015’ + ‘Fast Soul Music’ compilations on Hospital Records, as well as a remix for Lenzman’s ‘Looking at the Stars Remix EP’ on Metalheadz. After that, SGN:LTD released Submorphics’ “The Divine EP” to widespread fanfare and scene support. In 2016-2017 Submorphics continued his smooth neo-soul D&B with an appearance on Hospital’s “Future Sound Of America” album, a collab with Lenzman entitled “Bayview” on The North Quarter, and a 3rd release on SGN:LTD in the form of the “Without You” EP, which saw Submorphics delve deeper into synthentic, lush and futuristic sounds.
Stay tuned for much more from Submorphics, a rare talent whose unique vision sets him apart as one of the genre’s ones-to-watch for the future.
